• Screening of the film Everyone needs his tribe

Pavol Barabáš has been attracted to places where time seems to stand still for decades. His expeditions led to disappearing tribal communities that still preserved the original way of life - derived from the rhythm of nature, belonging and a deep relationship to the community. In an age saturated with technology, the values and principles that have been crucial for human survival for generations are often forgotten.

But what leads to the demise of these communities? This is exactly the question he asks himself in his films, which are not just documentaries. They are a testimony, a reflection and a challenge.

Pavol Barabáš filmed tribes in remote valleys of Central Asia, in the deep forests of New Guinea (Mysterious Mamberamo 2000, Pururambo 2004, Carstnesz 2008), in Africa (Omo - journey to the prehistoric age 2001, Pygmies - children of the jungle 2011, Suri 2012), and in the Amazon jungle, where he lived for three weeks with an Indian tribe (Shadow of the jaguar 2018), until he was dismantled by missionaries.

One of the most dangerous and at the same time the most sensitive expeditions led in 2022 to the heart of South Sudan to the last African tribes that still resist the influence of civilization. His latest film Everyone Needs a Tribe (2025) was born from this trip.

About the film
Two friends leave the security of the 21st century and embark on a dangerous journey to South Sudan. In the harsh and merciless wilderness, among the African tribes, they search for the lost essence of community. In the faces, stories and rituals of people who rely on each other, they try to find what is gradually disappearing from our civilization.

This film is not just a glimpse into a distant world. It is a provocative journey to the realization that the key to our future may be hidden in the deepest past. It is a challenge to rediscover what should really matter to us.

Entrance is free.
