About event
📅 18.12.2025 at 18:00 Coffee Sheep, Mierové námestie, Trenčín
📖 If you are interested in what is hidden behind a story that starts with one sentence and ends where history breaks, come to a meeting with Pavlo Rankov — an author who can extract the most sensitive and poignant moments from ordinary human destinies.
✨ Rankov is a writer who does not like to "dodge". In his books, he opens up the topic of historical memory and how the past can (or cannot) be dealt with. His stories are often about ordinary people faced with extraordinary circumstances, about a chance that changes the direction of life, and about what we carry with us, even if we would prefer not to carry anything.
Pavol Rankov is the winner of the European Prize for Literature, the author of short stories, novels and texts that read as if they were written "from a place where it hurts, but where it pays off watch".
🎙️ Silvester Lavrík will talk to him about creativity, memory and why we sometimes have to go back in order to move forward.
💙 Come to an evening that will not only be about literature, but also about ourselves.
The Trenčín literary festival project was financially supported by the City of Trenčín and the Trenčín self-governing region and the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic. The project partner is the European Union.
📸 Photo and video recordings will be made at the event, which will be published later.

📖 If you’re curious about everything that hides behind a story that begins with a single sentence and ends where history breaks itself, come to a meeting with Pavol Rankov — an author who can draw from ordinary human lives both the most delicate and the most searing moments.
✨ Rankov is a writer who doesn’t like to “look away.” In his books, he opens the topic of historical memory and the ways in which we can — or cannot — come to terms with the past. His stories are often about ordinary people confronted with extraordinary circumstances, about chance that changes the course of a life, and about everything we carry with us, even when we'd rather carry nothing at all.
Pavol Rankov is a recipient of the European Union Prize for Literature and the author of short stories, novels, and texts that read as if they were written "from a place where it hurts — but where it's worth looking."
🎙️ He will speak with Silvester Lavrík about writing, memory, and why sometimes we need to go back in order to move forward.
💙 Join an evening that won't be only about literature, but also about ourselves.
