#seminar The events and trends that unsettle and weaken liberal society today have a political basis: weak institutions, the breakdown of trust and the rise of populism. However, less is said about what lies deeper behind it - about the crisis of man himself, about the loss of depth and inner compass that would anchor political action at all. This first meeting of a new discussion series builds on Patoček's notion of care for the soul—as the foundation on which European civilization stood—and asks what remains of it in an age when algorithms shape attention, when truth is subject to performance, and when technological power outgrows democratic control. This is not nostalgia or an academic exercise. It is a question of whether a free society needs something more than good laws to survive.
