‼️ Due to great interest, we are increasing the capacity to 40 people.
The author of the Guitar Effects Guide series, guitarist Iggy Mayerov Michal Pilař, in a workshop organized under the banner of Frontman magazine, interviews experienced box makers, guitarists from the Island Mint band Matyáš Adámek and Jakub Bolbol. The third member of the party will be Zdeněk Prokopec, guitarist of the Prague boy band Good Times Only.
Together they will discuss how their pedalboards work in practice. It will advise you on which effects to choose, which gadgets to focus on and what to avoid, so that your pedalboard serves your music well. The workshop will have two parts, theoretical and practical.
Attention: If you want, bring your own pedalboards. There will also be space for your individual questions. And there will also be a pedalboard party.
Attention, there is a limited capacity of 40 places! ⚠️
The workshop will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2024, from 2 p.m. in the Prague Kytary.cz store in Modřany; admission to it is free, but it has a limited capacity of 25 places.
Matyáš Adámek is the frontman of the Prague band Island Mint, which is considered one of the biggest hopes of the domestic independent music scene. The band around the talented musician, who also worked as a sound designer for the Czech Olympic team, won the Czeching Radio Wave competition last year and successfully represented the Czech Republic at Eurosonic in Groningen, Holland. “Until recently, I was riding a big pedalboard with about 10 effects in it. I also had two guitars on the last tour. I thought the tracks would sound exactly like they did in the mix. But then I always got tangled up in cables on stage and it took me two minutes to readjust between songs. So I decided to turn it around and try to squeeze as many sounds as possible out of the few effects," said Matyáš in our interview just before leaving for the festival.
The guitarist of his band, Jakub Bolbol, who previously also gained experience in the band Branko's Bridge, has a different approach. "My pedalboard came about through hours of scrolling through music bazaars, EquipBoard and also a lot thanks to chance. I probably have the most drawing boxes (I love fuzzy), but there is actually something for everything (also modulation, delay, reverb). I'm not a fan of pedals with displays and more than 4 knobs, I like it when a pedal does 1, max. 2 sounds. I also like my case because I have limited space (and it's full)," says Jakub.
The third guest will be Zdeněk Prokopec, guitarist of the band Good Times Only. Zdeněk is not only one of the faces of this five, but also a key element of its distinctive sound. Thanks to his fondness for offset guitars and various guitar effects, he creates atmospheric and emotionally colored guitar lines that perfectly complement the band's Czech love songs. Among the jewels of his pedalboard, it is worth mentioning Hello Sailor Effects - Kilo Oscar Tango, or Tonewheel Ensemble Box. However, his characteristic style goes beyond the boundaries of Good Times Only - in recent years he has been intensively engaged in music production, or works as a guitarist in the electronic project Bariel AV.
We are preparing the workshop in cooperation with Kytary.cz and the Union of Authors and Performers.
