It is said that George Frideric Handel wrote the oratorio Messiah, which lasted several hours, and his world-famous Hallelujah in just over three weeks. Other works such as the novel Franziska Linkerhand grew over 20 years, but remained unfinished during the lifetime of the author Brigitte Reimann.
So how does what we call art actually come about?
Painting knows the term “reuestrich” – Italian: pentimento – for the complicated process of creating images. Artists struggle for the ideal representation of their thoughts, correct the lines, adjust color compositions, and develop the details and people depicted. Line by line, cut by cut, layer by layer, new connections emerge over the months and years. Initial ideas and original sketches can then often hardly be guessed at by the viewer.
In our concert “Pentimenti and Perspectives” we invite the audience to experience these multiple layers, construction methods and construction methods of art in a new way. Together with videographic and visual artists, we take the audience by the hand and lead them through an inextricably interwoven exhibition in the rooms of the Musikbrauerei. With the help of all the senses, completely new impressions, insights and insight arise: in the pictures and sculptures on display, in the video installation shown, in the sounding choral works by de Vitoria, Martin, Nystedt, Rehnqvist and Wittmann, among others
