What happens when a single beam of light splits into eight distinct rays?
How do we stay whole while being part of something bigger?
Why do you call yourselves “niche” instead of “sick”?
Glitchy, overstimulated, full of voice notes, soft threats, online crushes, self-sabotage, loyalty kinks, cotton candy, and ambient failures.
The performance offers layered exploration of fragmentation, dissociation, and the search for meaning in an increasingly incoherent world. It follows several characters as they move through state of quiet disillusionment while facing emotional and psychological effects of contemporary existence. The work navigates the tension between cognitive and emotional experience and rather than offering a linear narrative it unfolds as a series of loosely connected moments. Moodboards of emotional vignettes, where girl arranging cigarettes into the shape of a heart and lighting candle that smells like cupcakes shows us not simply an escape into 2010’s nostalgia but a critical reflection on how even the most superficial forms of femininity have been absorbed and repurposed by systems of commodification.
It tries to speak of the unspeakable and of approaching existential unease through irony and play. Humour here is not a distraction, but a tool of revealing what lies beneath polished surfaces. The performance ultimately invites audiences into a space where reality loops in on itself and certainty slips away, asking not for answers, but simply for a moment of collective presence.
The performance takes place as part of Markéta Slaná's solo exhibition “Congratulations, You Have Just Lost!”, which ends the following day.

Co se stane, když se jediný paprsek světla rozštěpí do osmi samostatných proudů?
Jak zůstat celistvý a zároveň být součástí něčeho většího?
Proč si nalháváš, že jsi „niche“ a ne „sick“?
Roztěkaná, přestimulovaná, plná hlasových zpráv, jemných hrozeb, online zamilovaností, sebesabotáže, závislosti na loajalitě, cukrové vaty i ambientních selhání.
Performance přináší vrstevnaté zkoumání fragmentace, disociace a hledání smyslu ve světě, který se zdá čím dál méně srozumitelný. Sleduje několik postav v tichém stavu vystřízlivění, které čelí emocionálním a psychickým dopadům současné reality. Dílo hledá balanc mezi kognitivním a emočním prožitkem, kde se místo lineárního příběhu odvíjí série volně propojených momentů. Moodboardy emočních vinět, v nichž dívka skládá cigarety do tvaru srdce a zapaluje svíčku s vůní cupcake, nenabízejí pouze únik do nostalgie roku 2010, ale zároveň kriticky reflektuje, jak i ty nejpovrchnější projevy dívčí estetiky byly pohlceny a přeformátovány systémem komodifikace.
Performance se snaží artikulovat to, co nejde jednoduše vyslovit a přibližovat se tak existenciálnímu neklidu skrze ironii i hru, kde humor neslouží jako nástroj k rozptýlení, ale naopak k odhalování spletitých vrstev pod uhlazeným povrchem. Nakonec zve hlavně diváka do prostoru, kde se realita smyčkuje sama do sebe, jistota se pomalu vytrácí a přestože performance nenabízí jednoduché odpovědi, nabízí alespoň okamžik společného setkání.
Performance se koná v rámci přeposledního dne sólové výstavy Markéty Slané „Congratulations, You Have Just Lost!“.
