About event
Périphérie celebrates its 40th anniversary!
After the closing of the Documentary Cinema Meetings and to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Périphérie, come dance the evening away with the Ciné bal. A dance in music and images to the rhythm of film extracts of all genres, from all countries and all eras. Let yourself be carried away by the energy of musical comedies, sirtaki or waltz scenes, languorous tangos or other frenzied rock that cinema has produced since its birth.
“I saw it done that in a film. Films are used to learn how to live, to learn how to make beds,” says Jean-Pierre Léaud in La Maman et la whore, while making his bed. But it is also in films that we learn to dance, in dance that we learn to live. And in life we learn to film. Learn step by step. Turn – turn around – turn around to see and move. Think with your feet, dance with your head to your toes. One leg, two legs, tripod – Fixed shot – We move forward. We sway, we retreat – We hide behind in front. We take the time. And we start again. We surprise ourselves, we misunderstand and we dance about it.
Cut-shifted – Turned-edited – The rhythm is in the cut. Cut and Roll – Spin-waltz, one, two, three...spin and roll again.
So take your seats that evening, ladies and gentlemen, join the dance as you would enter a film. At the cinema, that evening there will be no more seats!
Esther Mazowiecki
In the credits: A hundred film extracts
In editing: Agnès Bruckert
Followed by a DJ set by Isadora Dartial
Agnès Bruckert
Carried by her cinephile, the Louis Lumière School then several years of apprenticeship as a camera assistant and camera operator, Agnès Bruckert has devoted herself to film editing since 1989 and has supported a whole generation of fiction filmmakers. The great interest that she developed for collaboration with authors from the writing stage led her to join in the creation of the production company Petit à Petit. Since 2006, she has devoted several months a year to teaching at the Lussas Documentary School, where she met a new generation of documentary filmmakers. It was in Lussas that, bringing together all these experiences, she created the first Ciné Bal, which since then, constantly evolving, has followed its path in numerous festivals.
Isadora Dartial
< br/>Journalist at Radio Nova for two decades, Isadora Dartial offered musical portraits (Dans Les Oreilles) and radio tours around the world (Qué Onda? – le grand Mix des Radios du Monde, Au Tour de Nova) and for 3 years has unearthed the “magnetic” treasures of radio.
When she is not near the microphone, she puts her knowledge of the music behind the decks. You may have encountered her at the Suds festival in Arles, at the 10th anniversary of the Maison Rouge, during a striped night at Nova, at the Babel Med festival in Marseille or even in a bar in Buenos Aires. This evening, she assures us of a unique and decidedly festive mix!
