About event
From Tigris to Amstel
Opera Arias, Kurdish & Dutch Songs
The Kurdish-German soprano Pervin Chakar is not only a refined interpreter of the opera repertoire, but also a tireless performer of the musical wealth of her native country. She adapts folk songs for Western music and instruments without distorting the original structure. With her voice she bridges the gap between East and West. The artist is inspired by both the Amstel in Amsterdam and the Tigris River (Dicle) in her birthplace Diyarbakir (Amed). In this concert she will create unforgettable moments by singing Kurdish-Dutch folk melodies and opera arias, connecting cultures for her audience and admirers. Combining the unique and memorable works of Kurdish-German art and culture with Western classical arias, she invites you to take a dream journey between East and West.
Sometimes she will immerse you in lamentations from distant lands, and at other times she will evoke the joy and longing for home in works that celebrate love and happiness.
From songs by poets from the motherland such as Cegerxwîn and Bêkes to compositions by Puccini, Mozart and Lehar, including lullabies and love songs, this unique concert promises a rich repertoire of emotions.
Soprano, Pervin Chakar
Piano, Jeroen Sarphati
