About event
🎉 WE INVITE YOU TO THE OPENING OF THE FOURTH ANNUAL PESTRO COMMUNITY FESTIVAL
Celebrating a variety means something different to everyone. For me it can be a varied group of people, for you a varied program or varied experiences. This year too, people and organizations will meet again in Tabačka, who care about supporting the diversity of our society in the various forms it brings. The organizations Mareena, ALKA, the Platform of Families of Children with Disabilities and Tabačka Kulturfabrik will once again join forces to bring you closer to what diverse communities live in Košice through various activities. Creative workshops, a living library, theater, workshops on various topics and much more await you.
PESTRO will start on Saturday, June 6, but the festival does not end in one day. During the year, we will return with other activities and close the festival on December 12 with Colorful Christmas in Tabačka. The upcoming novelty is a special autumn edition of the festival, which we would like to bring to you in September. Follow us so you don't miss anything.
PROGRAMME:
13:00 - 13:30 | Court | Hopi Hope Theatre: Urashima Taro
Theatrical play based on the motifs of a Japanese mythical tale about a young fisherman who descends into the underwater kingdom performed by the great actors of the social Hopi Hope Theatre.

13:00 - 16:00 | Court | Varied games and creations with the Family Platform
Experience and creative activities for both young and old.
Can you imagine what it's like to get to know the world with your hands and not your eyes? Do you know which senses are involved more intensively when we don't have good hearing? Does music, a friendly hug, or movement in a crowd evoke different feelings for someone than for most of us?
Come and try various activities for both young and old with us. Thanks to them, together we will better understand how our difference shows us the world in much more colorful colors.
And if someone wants to paint, they can create a little thing with us that will remind them of the variety every day. What will it be? Let yourself be surprised and come among us!
14:00 - 15:45 | Fabrik Space | Drama therapy: PESTROSVETY
An experiential meeting that connects different worlds through play, imagination and shared experience.
Come back with us for a moment to childhood - to a space where you are not judged and where everything is possible.
Under the guidance of professional actress and pedagogue Valika Furješová and her lovely assistant Natalie, we will go on a small "journey through time" through drama therapy. Whether you're an adult who wants to play or a kid who wants to pretend to be a real actor, this space is for you. Everyone can find their place here. Because we believe that our diversity is a source of mutual enrichment.
The workshop is free, but the capacity is limited and already filled, we look forward to seeing you :)

14:00 - 16:00 | Court | A colorful living library with Mareena: Stories
foreigners in Slovakia
Imagine a library where unusual stories are not read, but told. Living books in our library are foreigners living in and around Košice, who for various reasons found themselves in Slovakia and found their second home here. Come "borrow" them, listen to the life stories of people from Ukraine, India, Afghanistan, Ivory Coast, Algeria or South Sudan and ask what interests you. You can "read" and discuss in Slovak and English.

14:00 - 16:00 | Court | Henna painting with Mareena
Discover the beauty of traditional Indian mehndi - henna body painting. Have a unique temporary pattern created that will last for several days. The activity will be accompanied by Indian student and henna artist Pooja, who also works in Košice under the Radhe Rang brand.
16:00 | Court | concert of the band Šarkane
The band Šarkane was founded as a club at ZŠ Ždaň in 2023. Since then, it has had several successes in competitions and public performances. The composition of the band changes every year, depending on how the students leave and come. It is currently operating in its youngest incarnation - two fifth-graders and two eighth-graders who worked intensively throughout the school year to show the world what they can do. The band plays Roma and folk music.
16:30 - 18:30 | Fabrik Space | Mareena's workshop on migration:
Do we really understand what it means to flee from war?
We invite you to a workshop that brings closer the real stories and experiences of Syrian refugees on their way to safety. Come to better understand what it means to start over in a foreign country. The workshop is intended for persons older than 18 years.
Registration for the workshop is not mandatory, but it will help us better estimate the number of participants and better prepare for it 👉 https://forms.gle/AWTpJcE2VmWJWY1d9
