About event
What is being played across the border?
PET JAZZ is the second oldest jazz festival in Slovakia, and in its thirty-second year we will take a look at our neighbors.
MICHAł AFTYKA QUINTET (PL) - Michał Aftyka (* October 25, 1996) is a Polish double bass artist and jazz composer. He comes from the village of Bełcz near Radzyń Podlaski. His project Michał Aftyka Quintet won the Fryderyk 2024 award in the Jazz Debut of the Year category for the FRUKSTRAKT album.
PRIM (AT) - classic forms of jazz mixed with grooves that are more reminiscent of drum & bass, and polymorphous rhythmic concepts - the Viennese trio PRIM, which consists of pianist Felix Biller, bassist Martin Melzer and drummer Christoph Karas, is musically unmistakable. Influenced by jazz greats like Esbjörn Svensson Trio, classical stars like Johann Sebastian Bach, composers of new music like John Cage or ethnic music.
DEAF PLAYPUS (CZ) - The young project Deaf Platypus has its beginnings at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory, under the direction of Jakub Doležal. Over time, she has evolved from jazz-fusion cover versions to her own compositions: the melodies are often very playful and innocent, but they also experiment with strange rhythms and unconventional, almost neoclassical arrangements.
Line – up:
DEAF PLATYPUS (CZ)
PRIM (AT)
MICHAł AFTYKA QUINTET (PL)
Presale €10
on site €15
The event was financially supported by the Polish Institute Bratislava and the Austrian Cultural Forum Bratislava.
