About event
"In half a year, the motherland will need my body."
The department of puppetry presents a dramatized reading of Romain Rolland's novella about what it's like to experience first love when the world is experiencing the First World War. Peter and Lucia are two young people who find understanding in themselves and for a moment forget about the rubble and falling bombs around them.
Rolland wrote the novella Peter and Lucia in 1918; at a time when most of Europe was swayed by propaganda and calls for heroism. As one of the few, he opposed the war with words, not weapons. It was supposed to be the war to end all wars. Today, humanity understands that she was not.
Reading in this production is not only an art form – it is a call to return to reading itself, to thinking, to critical thinking and the need to perceive what is happening in the world.
How to remain faithful to humanity at a time when it is becoming a weakness?
Does the individual have the power to make decisions in the world that he conquers ideology?
Is it possible to feel individual happiness against the background of a societal conflict?
Is it still possible to believe that our own body belongs to us?
What is the fight for? Why the pain?
Can we still believe in the war that will end all wars today?
Suitable for viewers aged 13 and over.
