Petros Klampanis is one of the busiest artists in the contemporary jazz world. Together with his formidable fellow musicians Kristjan Randalu and Ziv Ravitz, he recorded his sixth album as a leader, Latent Info, unusually in a shared room, without dividing walls. This is noticeable in the trio's music: the three exceptional musicians play their way through Klampanis' sound world with blind understanding; With sleepwalking certainty, a sensitive and rousing sound world of rarely heard perfection is created.
Described "Bass Ace" by Bass Player Magazine, bassist, composer and producer Petros Klampanis grew up in Greece, where he was exposed to the folk music of the Mediterranean and the Balkans. Today he lives between New York and Athens, Greece, and is curious in his approach, always looking for unique ways to incorporate elements from different genres ranging from classical music to pop. In his varied musical life, he combines aggressive melodicism, beautiful intonation and a unique personal sound in all the projects he leads or produces. Klampanis has collaborated with world-renowned artists such as Greg Osby, Jacques Morelenbaum, Oded Tzur, Arooj Aftab, Anoushka Shankar, Shai Maestro, Gilad Hekselman, Jean-Michel Pilc, Snarky Puppy, Kinan Azmeh, Dimitra Galani and Maria Farantouri, among many others. His extensive list of performances includes Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, The Blue Note, Glastonbury (UK), Rock in Rio (Lisbon), JazzAhead (Bremen) and the Alkmini Basakarou graces us with her captivating vocals, which seamlessly combine elements of folk and traditional music with sophistication and intellect, earning her a reputation as one of Greece's most promising singers. Thomas Meleteas brings his extraordinary talent on the oud to the ensemble and demonstrates not only his virtuosity as an interpreter, but also his skills as a composer.
Ziv Ravitz - drums, born in Beer-Sheva (Israel) in 1976, began making music at the age of 9 with a focus on drums. In the summer of 2000 he moved to the USA to expand his skills and graduated from the Berkelee School of Music in 2004 with a degree in jazz composition. Regular performances with Lee Konitz, Avishai Kohen, Yaron Herman Trio. Toured regularly around the world and played with musicians such as Hal Crook, Joel Frahm, Joe Lovano, Tomasz Stanko, Ralph Alessi, George Garzone, Ben Monder, Aaron Goldberg, Aaron Parks and Esperanza Spalding. Today Ziv lives in New York City, is one of the most sought-after drummers there and is an important force in the Israeli jazz movement.
