Petržalská akadémia vzdelávania- PhDr. Ivan Horský: Joseph Popper Janíkov dvor a dejiny Petržalky

We invite you to the third lecture of the 3rd year of the Petržalská Academy of Education.

Our guest will be PhDr. Ivan Horský, who is an active volunteer of the civic association "Let's save Petržalské bunkers". For many years he worked as a medical teacher in education. After his retirement, he participated in various civil activities in Petržalka and in 2019 he won the Award Personality Petržalka. The Popper family is directly linked to the territory of today's southern town and part of Petržalka called Janík Dvor. Before the Second World War, they managed in the vast fields south of the then Prešporek. When the Empire army forcibly occupied these territories, Joseph Popper and his family were forced to emigrate first to England and later to Australia. In Petržalka we have named the square in the locality of today's sunflowers.
