Physics Pizza Party - LASERS: From interplanetary matter research to planetary defense
Event by: Prague EPS Young Minds Section
Location: Czech Technical University in Prague, Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering, Břehová 7, Praha 1
About event
More than 50 tons of interplanetary matter enters our atmosphere every day, and by studying it we have the opportunity to obtain information about the history and present of our solar system. During the lecture, we will first look at how lasers help us to reveal not only the chemical composition of this matter, but also enable us to simulate, for example, phenomena associated with asteroid impacts. In the second part, we will talk about the future use of lasers in the field of planetary defense and other space technologies, such as the prospecting of asteroids, the disposal of space debris, the propulsion of spaceships or the diversion of dangerous near-Earth objects.
About lasers and their use in space research, Anna Křivková will tell us. Confirm your participation by clicking "I will participate" so we know how many pizzas to order. We look forward to seeing you on Thursday 31.10. in the Atrium on Břehová from 18:00 🍕💥
PS: If you are a freshman/sophomore and you are not sure if the event is suitable for you, don't worry and come. In addition to free pizza, there will be plenty of older students who will be happy to give you study advice. So don't hesitate and come have fun, learn something about an interesting topic, or find inspiration for your bachelor thesis.
