About event
Concert Series Presented by Stefan Mendl
Gabriel Meloni, born in 2001, has performed on the podium in a wide variety of formations since he was a child, making his debut with an orchestra at the age of ten. He now appears several times in the Vienna Konzerthaus and the Vienna Musikverein and as part of the Bregenz Festival, the ORF and the Allianz.
After he began playing the piano with Ivan Karpati, Gabriel Meloni continued his training with Gerhard Vielhaber at the Feldkirch State Conservatory and at the same time with Oliver Schnyder. He then studied with Konstantin Scherbakov at the PreCollege of the Zurich University of the Arts. He is currently studying with Stefan Mendl and Jan Jiracek von Arnim at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. He attended master classes with Lang Lang, Pavel Gililov, Michel Béroff, Bernd Goetzke and Anna Malikova.
He is a winner of several competitions, including winning second prize at the “Rotary Piano Prize” in Lindau in 2018. In 2012 he won third prize at the international “Jenö Takacs Competition” in Burgenland, and in 2019 he won third prize at the international “Nuova Coppa Pianisti” competition in Osimo (IT). He also won several first and special prizes at the national competition "Prima La Musica". Between the ages of eleven and 13, he took part in the "Vienna Young Pianists" master class in Vienna three times and won the interpretation prize twice and the "Munich Piano Podium" prize once. He has been a scholarship holder of the Liechtenstein Music Academy since May 2016. Gabriel also works as a chamber musician. A CD recording with bassoon and several first and special prizes at international and national competitions, including “Luigi Nono” in Turin 2017, underline this.
