About event

During the second evening of the festival on November 25, two brilliant European players, Piotr Matusik from Poland and his Italian colleague Antonio Faraò, will invite listeners to the world of piano jazz virtuosity in the Atrium in Žižkov.

Piotr Matusik (*1991, Bielsko-Biala) graduated from the Music Academy in Katowice. FROM he won a fair number of prestigious prizes in international competitions. For example, in the field of composition, he won the Belgian B-Jazz 2016. He is a member of Grzech Piotrowski's World Orchestra, accompanies singers Ewa Bem and Justyna Steczkowska, collaborated with Apostolis Anthimos, co-founder of the famous Polish band SBB. But above all, he leads his own trio. In it he likes to alternate between piano and synthesizers, but during a solo recital he demonstrates a perfect feeling for a purely acoustic sound.

Antonio Faraò (*1965, Rome), with a band discography with prestigious labels such as Verve, CAM Jazz, Warner or Enja is also known to our audience thanks to his collaboration with Miroslav Vitouš. He performed on Antonio's album Takes On Pasolini (2005). However, the legends Jack DeJohnette, Marcus Miller, Lenny White and Manu Katché did not hesitate to play on the pianist's records. Faraò is also a sought-after sideman. He accompanied John Abercrombie, Lee Konitz and Toots Thielemans. He also recorded at Abbey Road studios with the London Symphony Orchestra for the soundtrack to the film Looking for Anthony (2005).
