Good Morning
Over the past decade, Good Morning have charted a singular and difficult to define indie career, amassing a loyal fan base around the world and hundreds of millions of streams despite (or perhaps because of) their decidedly DIY approach.
The band from Melbourne, Australia consists of Stefan Blair who plays most of the instruments and sings half of the songs, and Liam Parsons who plays the rest of the instruments and sings the other half of the songs.
Holly Macve
A celestial voice laid in haunting ballads of western noir, with a devastating emotional delivery, Holly Macve explores a dreamlike and painterly world in her writing; English Rose meets Mulholland Drive, Lynchian glamour. With vocal notes from Chris Isaak and Patsy Cline and a unique talent for writing timeless melodies, Macve evokes a warmth and transcendence comparable to that of a 1950s black and white film.
Font
Font demonstrates a persistent intention to challenge the boundaries of punk and create new forms from fragments of other genres — pop, worldbeat, electronic music. Genres and soundscapes flow through their songs and leave the way they came — a wall-of-sounding guitar chorus gives way to a heavy 808 beat that drummers Jack and Logan pull against; discordant, sinister minimalism and spoken-word lyrics reminiscent of Black Country, New Road morph into shimmering, pulsing synths beneath an anthemic chorus.
When asked about their songwriting process, the band explains: “We know that a song is finished when we no longer really know what it is. We usually hit the record button and improvise together until something seems to light up. And then we build a song from that. » The result is an energy, a vector, which is intense and undeniable.
