In December we as part of the Music & Film series, in cooperation with the Film Festival of Otherness, they screened the film Velvet Ecstasy, in which the singer and guitarist of the band Placebo Brian Molko played a member of the band Flaming Creatures, and Placebo sang a cover version of the song for the film 20th Century Boy. In January, Slovakia will be the eighth country in the world and Kino Lumière the only one in our country to show the brand new documentary Placebo: This Search for Meaning. Its director Oscar Sansom, after recording the concerts of the band Biffy Clyro and Liam Gallagher, this time filmed a feature-length documentary mapping the band's 30-year journey through their lyrics and songs. Interviews with founding members - Molko and bassist Stefan Olsdal are complemented by statements by Robbie Williams, Shirley Manson from the band Garbage, Yungblud, and also Benedict Cumberbatch. The band members talk about their highs and lows, current topics such as sexuality, gender identity, addiction, trauma or the climate crisis, but also about the band's relationship with David Bowie. The interviews are complemented by concert recordings of songs from the current album Never Let Me Go (2022) and never-before-seen archive footage from the 90s.
