"Plasticity" Emma Lea Nikodýmová
📍 Cafe Tvaroh - Šmeralova 22, Prague 7 …
The exhibition of plasticity is the debut set of photographs by young author Emma Ley Nikodýmová, who looks at America in her films through a fine, dream filter. Instead of America full of hustle and bustle, Emma offers viewers a picture of a landscape that acts as a remnant of a dream, a place where the boundary between reality and illusion is lost. They work with the impression of a well -known yet distant, evoking scenography that seemed to wait for the beginning of the filming. They lack the human presence, which even emphasizes the impression of abandonment and suspended time. America in these photos is not only a place, but a state. Seemingly real places evoke the feeling of déjà vu, as if we saw them somewhere, but they have never really touched them. She has been heading towards her visual expression since she spent time mostly in front of the lens, and that eventually opened the world that she now observes through the camera. She was first addressed by staging and documentary photographs. Plasticity is her first independent exhibition that shows the feeling for the atmosphere, light and the ability to express feelings in image.
