Platform Engineering Vienna - October 2024 Meetup

**Agenda**:

* Doors open 5:30 p.m.
* ***Talk 1: 6:00 to 6:30 p.m.***
* **Speaker**: Robert Sandru, Hans Fiby
* **Title**: Scaling Agile for Platform Engineering: How SAFe Drives Kapsch TrafficCom’s Deployment Platform
* **Abstract**: Deploying solutions across diverse and complex infrastructures presents significant challenges, often resulting in inefficiencies in securing and standardizing deployments. Kapsch TrafficCom is on a journey to unify the operations of these varied infrastructures and technology stacks through platform engineering.
In this talk, we will share insights into our current progress, the lessons we've learned about integrating Scaled Agile with platform engineering, and our vision for how a dedicated Agile Release Train (ART) focused on developing a unified deployment platform can help streamline and secure deployments across diverse customer environments. We will also explore how Kapsch TrafficCom is embedding platform engineering into its established SAFe practices, the benefits of this approach, and key takeaways from this evolving process.
* **Break: 6:30 to 6:45 p.m.**
* ***Talk 2: 6:45 to 7:15 p.m.***
* **Speaker**: Robert Bauer
* **Title**: Inner sourced yet Public - how Platform Engineering is done at a federal Level
* **Abstract**: Many backends of public services for Austrian citizen and companies are already running on Kubernetes.
BRZ shows why platform engineering was crucial from the beginning to bring more than 100 complex and heterogenous applications into one shared Kubernetes platform in only 4 years.
* Networking: start 7:15 p.m.
