Event by: Portland New Generations Rotary Club
Location: The Encorepreneur Cafe, Northeast 15th Avenue 1548, Portland
About event
PNG Rotary members participated in a joint Rotary International grant project with four other Rotary clubs and traveled to Guatemala to sponsor, learn about, and even help build safe cook stoves with StoveTeam International. Join us as Sarah and Emily recap the experience!
Three billion people in the world cook over an open fire and the resultant air pollution is a leading cause of death and disability. These scientifically developed safe masonry cookstoves provide a wide range of health, economic, and social benefits for families and commumities.
The group of American Rotary clubs partnered with the Rotary Club of Retalhuleu to fund and install 70 safe cookstoves in Nuevo Palmar, Guatemala. Members together raised $17,500 to fund the project.
