Immersive, performative set about the phenomenon of corporations. ๐๏ธ
While creating this immersion, we also discovered a certain poetics in the corporate issue. Rather than dealing with a specific case study, we focused on the question: How do we perceive the influence and impact of corporations on our daily lives?
In general, we tend to mistakenly believe that we, as individuals, are not central to the issue of corporations nothing to do with the success of the capitalist system we live in. However, our lives and work are deeply intertwined with this financial profit oriented system. More than we can often imagine, realize or admit. A corporation may be an artificial legal structure, but the people involved in it, whether shareholders, executives, employees, or the rest of us through various business transactions, all have moral and ethical responsibilities. ๐ซฑ๐ผโ๐ซฒ๐ฝ
One of the several meanings of the term corporation is that which says that several person-bodies come together to form one person-body, unite and become a collective. In abstract terms, ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐.
Performers oscillate between the identity of a 'natural person' and the embodiment of the corporation's values โโas a 'legal person'. In Bodies Together, we play as if each body's presence is part of one corporate structure in which we all participate. The rules and objectives are gradually revealed as the game progresses. How do you co-create and how do you navigate the world of manipulation? The performance is structured around each performer's attempt to be heard and thereby escape the corporate system. It points out how we are all inevitably and repeatedly drawn back into the game. ๐ฃ๏ธ
7 'real persons' plus another 40 'real bodies' become 47 ๐๐จ๐๐ขcies ๐๐จ๐ ๐๐ญ๐ก๐ซ in a fragmented environment made up of 70 floating boxes. The creative team offers a playful opportunity to embark together on a fictional journey into a unique human corporation with the possibility to imagine new strategies for the 'real world'. One of the strategies we found is to go 'Through, not against'.
๐๐ฒ๐๐ฏ๐ฏ๐๐ง๐ขฬ ๐ง__ ๐ฏ๐ฒฬ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ฏ๐ฎ:
Bring your own headlamp. If you don't own one, ask your neighbor, but don't buy a new one, we'll lend you one. Comfortable clothes and shoes. No pumps and high heels. You also have the option to undress.
The password that guides the performers, the audience, and maybe even the Corporate :) follow her throughout the expedition, look at everything from her perspective
