Through, not against
The only Slovak presentation of an exceptional, immersive, performative journey on the subject of the phenomenon of corporations.
During the creation of this performance, creators discovered a certain poetics in the corporate issue. Instead of examining a specific case study, they focused on the question: How do we perceive the influence and impact of corporations on our daily lives?
We often mistakenly believe that as individuals we have nothing to do with corporations - symbols of the success of the capitalist system in which we live. However, our lives and work are deeply intertwined with this profit-oriented system. More than we can imagine or admit. Although a corporation is an artificial legal structure, the people who make it up – shareholders, managers, employees and the rest of us through our decisions – all bear moral and ethical responsibility.
Bodies Together plays with the idea that the presence of each body is part of one common corporate structure in which we all participate. The rules and objectives are gradually revealed as the game progresses. How do we co-create and how do we move in the world of manipulation?
The show is built around trying to be heard - and thus escape from the corporate system. At the same time, it draws attention to how we are all inevitably and repeatedly drawn back into the game.
Seven "real persons" join the audience in Bodies Together in a fragmented environment formed by floating boxes. The creative team offers a playful opportunity to embark together on a fictional journey into a unique human corporation - with the opportunity to imagine new strategies for the "real world". One of them is the principle Through, not against.
The visually impressive scenography of the performance will be exhibited as a separate installation the day before its launch, on November 19, which you can visit during the gallery's opening hours, 1:00 PM - 7:00 PM.
