About event

Concert 20. September will be extremely varied. In the first part of the evening, we will first hear not very often mentioned, but an impressive and technically demanding piano concert of Clary Schumann in the version of the Lithuanian soloist JEM Gražinytvor. Then the popular cello concert of her husband Robert Schumann with the legendary British soloist Steven Isserlis will be heard. The epic about Gilgamesh, the oratorio for solos, narrators, mixed choir and orchestra, in the ideas of the composer matured for a long long. His premiere took place in Basel 23 January 1958 and was a great triumph for Martin. In the same year, the composition was heard, among other things, at the Prague Spring Festival. The role of the narrator will be presented in Prague by an excellent British actor Simon Callow. You can know him from Amadeus Milos Forman or Mike Newell's film Four Weddings and One Funeral. The Rudolfinum will include soprano Lucy Crowe, bassist Jan Martiník, baritone Derek Welton and Prague Philharmonic Choir. The Prague Philharmonia Orchestra will be led by Robert Kružík. 7
