Podiumsdiskussion – Sprache, Identität, Widerstand: Antirassistische Bildung in Bibliotheken
Panel discussion – language, identity, resistance: anti-racist education in libraries
Event by: Stadtbibliothek Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg
Location: Mittelpunktbibliothek Wilhelm Liebknecht / Namik Kemal, Adalbertstraße 2, Berlin - Bezirk Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg
About event
Libraries are places of knowledge, encounters and learning - but how can they become truly inclusive and discrimination-sensitive spaces?
As part of the panel discussion, we would like to use the example of the Roma and Kurdish communities to talk together about how anti-racist educational work can be strengthened in and with libraries. Both communities are affected by discrimination in several ways - also because they represent languages that do not have state status.
We discuss:
• the role of migrant organizations,
• the importance of intersectional approaches,
• the responsibility of libraries in anti-racist educational work.
Podium:
• Tayo Awosusi Onutor, Romaniphen e. V.
• Merih Ergün, Yekmal e. V., Center for Intersectional Diversity (CiD)
• Leslie Kuo, Pankow City Library (contact person for diversity-oriented opening)
• N. N., Wilhelm Liebknecht / Namık Kemal Center Library
• Sonja Galler, Family Support Department, Yekmal e. V.
Moderation: Remziye Uykun, BEFaN network, Yekmal e. V.
We cordially invite you to join in the discussion and exchange ideas on this evening.
Together we would like to open perspectives, share experiences and think of new ways for discrimination-sensitive educational work.
