About event
An almost horror-themed production inspired by the life and work of Edgar Allan Poe.
The performance is inspired by several selected short stories - The Pit and the Pendulum, Skokan and Mask of the Red Death, which form the basic dramaturgical framework. At the same time, they are connected by a series of atmospheres and messages from the entire spectrum of Poe's work as varied as his work was varied. The creators will not only give a glimpse into the dark corners of his soul, but above all they want to discover for the viewer his excellent sense of humor and beautiful poetry. Poe was able to brilliantly ironize and honor the entire spectrum of human qualities, exaggerate evil or the position of power, lyricize purity and beauty, and project the character of the soul directly into the character's physiognomy. The expressive costumes, which carry a dose of poetry and exaggeration, are humorous and creepy at the same time. The mysterious atmosphere is enhanced by chambers and dark corners of endless labyrinths or supernatural beings – fairies, mirages, demons, monsters. To transfer these magical beings, a legendary illusion from the time when E. A. Poe lived, the so-called Pepper`s Ghost effect, thanks to which it is possible to embody immaterial figures in space, was demonstrated to the audience as early as 1860.
