About event
🎶 We invite you to the Suk Hall of the Rudolfinum, full of intimate melodies on which Dvořák's, Brahms and Grieg's songs performed by Kateřina Kněžíková and Belly Adamove with piano, accompanied by David Švec. Antonín Dvořák, although it is a work that certainly belongs to the concert stage for its musical beauty. At the beginning of the evening, Kateřina Kněžíková will introduce them to us. In Brahms' songs, topics reflect his own feelings: most evoke the pain of the unmatched love, loneliness of human destiny, inevitable finality of life, but also the comfort that nature offers in the second part of the evening. Dvořák and Brahms's contemporary, Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg in his song cycle Haugtussa follows the fate of the young shepherd, her joy and grief of love.
The evening will culminate in a selection of Dvořák's Moravian double singers, ie works that were of extraordinary importance for the Czech composer because it helped to start its international success. No one other than Johannes Brahms, who recommended the Moravian double singers to his Berlin publisher Simrock, was behind the turning point in Dvořák's career.
