Poetry Reading and Creative Workshop

Join us for an intimate poetry reading and creative workshop with Taiwanese poet and interdisciplinary artist, Yu-Hsuan Wu.

Poetry brings us swiftly to the blade’s edge.

In this intimate poetry reading and creative workshop, Taiwanese poet and interdisciplinary artist Yu-Hsuan Wu traces her creative journey from the spiritual mothers she has chosen—Frida Kahlo, Egon Schiele, and Indigenous landscapes and myths in Taiwan—toward the death of her own mother, and finally toward the spiritual traces a mother leaves within the body after loss.

American painter and translator Steve Bradbury writes: “Yu-Hsuan Wu’s poems illuminate her unflagging effort to compose a life that is deeply grounded—culturally, geographically, and spiritually—in the here-and-now. ”Through poetry, music, conversation, and play, Wu invites participants to encounter the poetry already living in their own bodies.

Yu-Hsuan Wu — Taiwanese interdisciplinary artist whose practice spans literature, photography, dance, and participatory art. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Arts degree in Finland.
