About event
After November's Critical Mass, we will remember the ongoing struggle for freedom and democracy.
Bratislava will host Frank Weisse, an interesting character in the story about the fall of the Berlin Wall, the underground in Czechoslovakia and the like. He will read his poetry to us and will accompany it with his original acoustic musical performance. This time we will go to a completely new space on Šancova. This space is small and therefore the capacity is limited.
Frank Weisse is a German living in the Czech Republic who only learned Czech as an adult. He has been writing since childhood and reflects on historical events from a German perspective. From today's point of view, the presented poems and short stories bear witness to the absurd and paradoxical conditions from Czechoslovakia and the GDR to the present day. Themes such as borders, language barriers and everyday difficulties are highlighted. In his texts, some of which are written only in Czech, F. deals with these topics in his own way, which according to him is self-therapy. One of the styles he uses is language play. So that the audience does not become constantly confronted with F.'s texts, he will play his own compositions on wooden flutes and guitar in between.
Bio:
Frank Weisse was born, raised and studied in Germany. He studied
literature, devoted himself to psychology, graduated in the field of literary science. Frank is a certified cultural manager and was trained, among other things, at the International Theater-Therapeutic Conference in Olomouc.
He works as a performer, musician, cultural manager, German language teacher (teaching using theater techniques). He writes short stories, poems, fairy tales and screenplays.
Frank is the initiator, screenwriter and actor of the first experimental documentary film with the so-called invisible theater. The film "Inner noise" documents the situation in the border town of Görlitz (DE) - Zgorzelec (PL) at the time of border controls.
He leads workshops of intuitive writing, improvisational theater and theater workshops with alternative and experimental forms of theater (such as "Theatre of the Oppressed") in international projects in different countries, e.g. a theater workshop during the international film festival Festival International du Film de Nancy "Aye Aye" (France).
