Viktor Shenderovich’s stand-up about Russian censorship and Russian satire

Victor Shenderovich has been performing with this lecture at leading universities in the world for many years.
However, this is not the usual academic lecture, but a funny and scary stand-up by a famous publicist and writer about the eternal confrontation between free Russian speech and the gloomy autocracy of different eras: from Peter the Great to the present day.
Portraits and subjects, Pushkin and Nestor Kukolnik, eleven surviving copies of Radishchev, “Woe from Wit” and “Suicide”, defeats and victories of the free Russian word, Bulgakov and Schwartz - and, finally, the history of the Russian twentieth century in anecdotes and ditties!
