About event

The midnight Mass seizes the hidden secrets in the arranged family, which also creates a peculiar metaphor of the whole nation in a struggle for existence and identity in a difficult historical period. The freezing story takes place in 1944, at Christmas, during which the moments of the desired peace with extreme tension alternate behind the table of Valentine's Day Kubiš. The atmosphere of that time offers a parallel with current conflicts of values, revealing those ideas and movements that have malignant potential for today's democratic and civil society in the European region. Tragedy of World War II. The grandson of the well -known painter Dominik Skutecký was removed from the repertoires of theaters because of his negative attitude to the occupation of Czechoslovakia. After November 1989 he was fully rehabilitated. It takes place on Christmas Eve in 1944. It examines the attitudes and relationships of ordinary people to the dramatic events ending in World War II. The Kubiš family take care of their family perfectly, taking care of customs and traditions. But it boils under this lid. The youngest son is guerrilla, older guards, daughter arizer. At the Christmas Eve table they sit with Nazis, the promising bride is a communist. The situation on the front is increasingly uncertain, the moment is approaching when one of the family members needs to be sacrificed. What will they confess at the Midnight Mass? Strong drama asks important questions today and offers the atmosphere of the time and parallel with the movements that question the meaning of civil society. 45 min. Without a break
