EVENT ORGANIZED BY THE CONSULAR CORPS OF CAMPANIA
PROGRAM
A journey to discover the picturesque corners and evocative views of the main cities, but also the folkloristic traditions of a country with a thousand facets and a lively and always laughing soul.
FIRST DAY – SATURDAY 26 OCTOBER 2024
NAPLES - LISBON
Gathering of participants at the Capodichino airport in Naples and meeting with the accompanying consul.
Processing of customs formalities and boarding the TAP flight to Lisbon - departure at 12.30pm, arrival at 2.50pm.
Arrived in Lisbon, transfer to the hotel and accommodation in reserved rooms.
Dinner, water included.
SECOND DAY – SUNDAY 27 OCTOBER 2024
LISBON
Breakfast in the hotel.
Meeting with the Italian speaking guide to discover the city: visit the Cathedral, the Alfama district, Belem with its Tower and the Mosteiro DoS Jeronimos.
Free lunch.
In the afternoon we will visit the National Palace of Queluz, a sumptuous eighteenth-century palace called the "Portuguese Versailles" for its marvelous marble and stucco and its ornamental lakes where the water flows from mythological figures.
Continuing you will reach the Portuguese Riviera with the splendid towns of Estoril and Cascais: glamorous and sophisticated destinations that were once holiday resorts for kings and celebrities.
Return to the hotel
Brief evening overview of Lisbon and dinner, drinks included, with Fado show.
THIRD DAY – MONDAY 28 OCTOBER 2024
OBIDOS – NARARÈ – COIMBRA (ABOUT 232 KM)
Breakfast in the hotel.
Departure for Coimbra, stopping in the enchanting village of Obidos to admire the Castle and the characteristic white houses covered with bougainvillea and geraniums. Continue to Nazarè, a picturesque fishing village.
Free lunch.
In the afternoon, a walk will take place against the backdrop of a large bay closed by green headlands.
Arrival in Coimbra in the evening, accommodation in the hotel in reserved rooms.
Dinner, water included.
FOURTH DAY – TUESDAY 29 OCTOBER 2024
COIMBRA – AVEIRO - PORTO (about 137 km)
Breakfast in the hotel.
Visit of the city of Coimbra: from the Joanina Library to the ancient Romanesque Sé Velha Cathedral.
Free lunch.
We will continue to Aveiro, an Art Nouveau town located on a large lagoon.< br/>Finally we will arrive in the beautiful Porto: hotel accommodation in reserved rooms.
In the afternoon, we will take a mini-cruise on the Douro river to admire the suspension bridges, the cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia and the bank, the Heritage of 'Humanity Cais da Ribeira and the barrier of typically tall and narrow houses that cascade from the hill to the water's surface.
The evening will end with a fish-based dinner, drinks included, in a typical and informal local on the banks of the Douro.
FIFTH DAY – WEDNESDAY 30 OCTOBER 2024
PORT
Breakfast in the hotel.
Morning entirely dedicated to visiting the city: The Don Luis Bridge, the Church of San Francesco, the historic center, the Torre dos Clerigos, Praça de Bathala, the Avenida dos Aliados and the Palacio da Bolsa which we will also visit the interior.
Lunch in a restaurant, water included.
In the afternoon we will make an excursion to Guimarães: the place that was the birthplace of the first king of Portugal, Alfonso Henriques. In fact, on the ancient walls, the writing stands out: “Aqui nasceu Portugal”. We will also visit the Palace of the Dukes and the historic center of Guimarães, typically medieval.
Return to Porto. Dinner, water included.
SIXTH DAY – THURSDAY 31 OCTOBER 2024
BATALHA – FATIMA – LISBON (about 345 km)
Breakfast in the hotel.
Departure for Lisbon stopping in Batalha to visit the Gothic Monastery with the incomparable Capelas Imperfeitas. Continue to Fatima, a very important Christian pilgrimage destination.
Free lunch.
Arrival in Lisbon in the evening, transfer to the hotel and accommodation in reserved rooms. Dinner, water included.
SEVENTH DAY – FRIDAY 1 NOVEMBER 2024
LISBON – ROME FIUMICINO – NAPLES
Breakfast in the hotel.
Release of rooms and transfer to airport for the return to Italy.
Boarding on the TAP Lisbon-Rome flight departing at 11.40 am. Arrival expected at 3.45 pm.
Upon arrival at Rome Fiumicino, transfer by private bus to Naples.
