About event
Pavel Kubaník and Ladislava Gažiová will present the exhibition and the book 𝐏__𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐬__ during a joint December evening at the Artoteca in Opatov.
The Paramis exhibition (November 4th — December 30th, 2024, entrance hall of the MKP Opatov branch) presents illustrations by Ladislava Gažiové created for the book of the same name (Paramisa: Fairy tales and stories of Romani storytellers from the former Czechoslovakia. Prague: Argo, 2023).
The book presents a selection of fairy tales, intended for adults, that were told to each other by the Roma in the territory of the former Czechoslovakia a few decades ago. In the 1970s and 1980s, fairy tales were recorded by the leading Czech romist Milena Hübschmannová. Selected stories, which have not yet been published in Czech, were translated and edited by the Roma writer Pavel Kubaník.
