We invite the cultural municipality, media and public to a press conference for rescue FPU and culture in Slovakia!
⏰ 12.3. Culture, art and creative industry sector in Slovakia.
Since the approval of the amendment to the Act on the Art Support Fund, we draw attention to incompetent, power and ideologically motivated actions of nominees and nominees of the Minister of Culture. Some of them were also appointed to the FPU Council in violation of the law. Since their arrival, we have been monitoring how they transform the public institution into a instrument of political and ideological censorship, how expertise alternates dilettants and conspiracy, and how transparency retracts.
The result of their shameful behavior is the months of delaying support decisions, disabled expert committees, complaints and threats of lawsuits. Worst of all, it is already the most a lot of cultural organizations, people working in culture and the audience itself throughout Slovakia. Events are canceled, people lose their jobs and the presentation of domestic work abroad is also weakened.
The statute that the FPU Council wants at the next meeting is just another manifestation of their absolute incompetence. The proposal was prepared unprofessionally, with clear power ambitions of political nominees, without a deeper knowledge of the functioning of the FPA A and without a discussion with the professional public interested.
At a press conference we will summarize our reservations about the FPU status, but also to other persistent problems in the functioning of the art fund.
We repeatedly ask:

👉 In cooperation with the professional public to prepare an amendment to the Act, which will remove its main shortcomings
