The movie Potopa tells a story from Czechoslovakia in 1980. Mara is 15 years old and wants to become a pilot and leave village life. However, her father Alexander, a Ruthenian peasant and widower, insists that she stay at home and continue working on her native land. When the valley faces flooding for the construction of the Starina water reservoir, they both have to cope with the loss of their home and family heritage. At the same time, they are looking for a way to reconcile with each other in the middle of the struggle between tradition, identity and the desire for freedom.
💡 A minimalist bar (beer, lemonade and snacks) is available right in the cinema. There are also toilets (at the café of the Ethnographic Museum) and blankets, in case you get cold in the evening.
