About event

What is the work in capitalism? And how does it happen that in a society we work so much, it is so difficult to make your work visible, display it in art or solve the political approach of adequate size? In this lecture, Joe Grim Feinberg deals with the thinking of Moish Poston (1942–2018), the leading artist of the work of Karel Marx, and at the same time a sharp critic of "traditional Marxism", who misunderstood the meaning of work. While traditional Marxism in Poston's interpretation understood capitalism as a personal clash between good workers and bad capitalists, Postone analyzed capitalism as a system of impersonal domination - domination without rulers - in which work and capital structures dominate all people who interact with the world. This system is therefore not only a system of economic activity, but also a system of covering and stating. It becomes difficult to see a worker as a specific person, and not only as a bearer of the working class's abstract task or as a degraded element threatening the social order. Can today's activists adequately confront the specific fact? Today, today's artists can move between the socialist heroization of the worker and the surrealistic ultimatum "never work"? They deal with Marxism and Cultural Policy in Central European History.
