About event
walk will lead around several historical buildings associated with the history of diplomacy in the Czech lands. The founder of Humprecht Jan Czernin (Černín) was already involved in the diplomatic field, who for some time worked as an imperial envoy in Venice; The project of the construction of the palace was inspired by Italian Baroque architecture. During the first Czechoslovak Republic, the palace became the seat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; The later President of the Republic Edvard Beneš and Jan Masaryk, who died tragically, worked as ministers here. Participants will commemorate the fate of these personalities and some important events that have taken place in the recent past.
will continue to the villa in Úvoz Street, which is the seat of the Swedish embassy. Here the participants give the memory of the family of the original house owners, whose members have become victims of the Nazi and later communist regime. The promenade named after Raoul Wallenberg, a Swedish, who rescued the Jewish population in Hungary during World War II, will offer one of the most beautiful views of Prague. They will come from it to the Lesser Stage. At the building of the Lesser Town Lobkowicz Palace - the headquarters of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany - they will admire beautiful Baroque architecture and look into the garden, where on September 30, 1989, the collection of citizens of the Communist German state heard that they would be able to travel to West Germany. The Schönborn Palace, where the Embassy of the United States of the United States, also has an interesting history. The Crane family, from which the first American ambassador in Czechoslovakia came, played an important role in the relationships between our countries at the time of the establishment and formation of the first Czechoslovak Republic. Participants will stop at Nerudova Street at the Morzinské Palace, where the diplomatic representation of Romania is now located, and at the palace, among the previous owners were the families of the Kolowrats and the Thun-Hohenstein and where the Italian Republic of the Republic now operates; Both buildings are decorated with the works of Baroque sculpture.
