After the change of government in Poland in 2023 and the formation of the new federal government in Germany 2025 has so far failed to provide the announced impetus for closer German-Polish cooperation. Instead, unresolved conflicts such as the controversial reintroduction of border controls and the open question of German reparations continue to strain the relationship. Despite these tensions, both countries work closely together on security policy - especially in view of Russian aggression against Ukraine. The German-Polish Barometer 2025 examines how these political developments influence the population's perception of the neighboring country and key issues such as border controls and reparations.
