About event
Around the world, there are increasing cases where local initiatives have asserted that rivers or entire ecosystems have legal rights, just like people. Are the rights of nature a way to protect it, or just a weak step in the world of fossil capitalism, which does not change power relations and inequalities?
Come with us to the sun tea room at FSS for the second reading circle! Together we will look at examples from around the world where rivers or ecosystems have gained legal rights, explore how this works in practice and whether such measures really protect nature. At the same time, we will share our personal experiences and experiences when we felt that living and non-living elements of nature should have the same rights as humans.
We will soon share some tips on resources you can use to prepare for the circle. Whether you are a student, a worker, a teacher or a forest bird, come join the discussion!
