ABOUT THE BOOK
The Prague metro was not meant to be just means of transport. 50 years ago, thanks to this construction, a space opened up under the city with the potential to fulfill the idea of modernists about the ability of art to cultivate a person. The idea was reflected in the attention paid by the creators to the architecture, interior aesthetics, lighting, orientation system, visual arts and design. Together with the architects, the artists were active co-creators of the environment, which is why the Prague underground railway is one of the most impressive in the world.
The book, through texts and photographs, captures this still inspiring project as an architectural, artistic and urban phenomenon, as well as a unique , a living trace of history in the bowels of the city.
