Naďa Profantová and Ludmila Barčáková from the Institute of Archeology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Prague, will present their new documentary "Behind the mystery of the Tismic goldsmith", which was created thanks to the Strategy AV21 project of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. The event takes place in a hybrid way - in the ARÚ library and online via Zoom.

Abstract:
Thanks to the results of two projects, it was possible to proceed with the reconstruction of the production of three different ornaments from three materials from the early Middle Ages hillfort Tismice, district Cologne. Due to the finds of specialized tools and a crucible with gold inside, it was possible to confirm the work of a jeweler-goldsmith and a goldsmith directly on the site. ornaments from the 8th and 9th centuries. The golden pearl was found deformed, and by reconstructing it, we enabled its technological and visual comparison with other preserved pearls from the 9th century.
