A small sailing ship, the Drake Passage and an expedition to Antarctica.
Come and hear what it is like to sail through the most feared sea route on earth, how nature conservation works in Antarctica and what it looks like on a polar expedition.
But mainly we will look at the history of how large marine mammals have changed the way we look at species extinction and ecosystem collapses. You will learn what the krill paradox is, what were the crowns and how it was with whaling, the oil industry and how it can be confronted with current energy trends?
The speaker will be Ondřej Peč.
