About event
Archaeology is not only about prehistoric vessels and medieval walls. It also explores the recent past – periods that many of us still remember. What did the 20th century leave behind? What traces do archaeologists find in places associated with totalitarian regimes? 🏙️
The second meeting of the cycle of archaeological talks about Prague will focus on the archeology of the modern age and modern history. You will learn what finds were discovered in the area of the former Stalin monument on Letná, what archeology can reveal about life in the period of totality, and what story the Devil's Cemetery tells. The Wild Land project will also be presented, which is dedicated to places marked by recent history. 🕯️
The archeology of "yesterday" shows that even the relatively recent past can hide important questions and unexpected testimonies. What seems obvious and familiar can take on a new meaning when we look at it through the eyes of archaeologists.
