In May 1945, the liberated Brno was slowly recovering from war hardships. This situation came to the news that President Edvard Beneš is planning a stop in Brno on his way to his homeland, where the president accompanied his wife on 12 May shortly after four o'clock in the afternoon.
President Beneš was to refrain only briefly in Brno and continue to Prague. In Prague, however, it was not yet completely safe, so the program was changed. Benes remained in Brno until May 16. He and his consort were accommodated in the villa Stiassni. In the memoirs of ZNV chairman Vladimir Matula, you can read: A major influence on the further fate of the villa - for decades it has turned into a government villa.
