Pavel Vančát, historian of photography and curator will talk about the photographic work of Pavel Jasanský (1938–2021) on Thursday, March 27, at 5 pm in the Archive of Fine Arts of Prague-Nusle. 📚 The lecture will present a rich and multilateral lifelong work of Pavel Jasanský, which includes, for example, early reportage photographs and long -term reflection of late modern times, as well as painting and multimedia installations.
The lecture will be followed by the performance of the first monograph Pavel Jasanský (1938–2021) dedicated to the work of this distinctive photographer. The archive of the Fine Arts published a monograph of Jasanský in cooperation with the Gallery of the City of Prague on the occasion of the upcoming retrospective exhibition in May 2025. The book will be available for 990 CZK.
🕙 When: Thursday, March 27, 5 pm In 1974 in Prague 4 in Branik and became an important cultural figure not only of this part of Prague. He was an important cultural actor who linked many active personalities, especially from the Prague music, theater and literary scene, and had long been documented by these activities. He devoted himself to photography during his studies of geology, since the turn of the 50th and 60s. His first documentary cycles were created. He devoted himself to promotional photography and graphics, collaborated in photographs and design of many records and posters for musicians at that time. In addition to the documentary photography, he photographed staged shots, created paintings, collages, objects or multimedia installations.
