About event
We would like to invite you to another lecture on a series of talk about the samurai culture called "Stories of Samurai Chronicles - Japan under the reign of the Tokugaws".
Lecturer:
PhDr. Roman Kodet, Ph. D is a university lecturer at the Department of Historical Sciences of the Faculty of Arts of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen and for a long time dealing with the history of Japan. Due to the inner peace and considerable stability, there was a huge population explosion and economic growth in Japan during the 17th century. Japan has gradually transformed from primarily a rural country into one of the most churned societies of the world. This corresponded to the flourishing of Japanese culture, art and education. In the 18th century, however, this trend and stagnation were gradually stopped, with which the ruling Tokugaw regime could not cope. However, this did not mean that the Japanese society was less complex and intricate. The lecture will present this period in its entirety - from the ruling samurai strata, through urban culture to live an ordinary Japanese peasant. The aim will be to show the EDO period in its entirety.
