About event
Lecture from the Cycle of the CHMP and Ehri-cz "New knowledge and sources for the history of the Holocaust" At the same time, however, the employment of Czech and German non -Jewish workers continued. Dr. Janine P. Holc of Loyola University in Maryland will focus on a group of textile factories in the Trutnov region, where they were interned from 1940 until May 1945 by the Polish Jewish girls from Silesia. Through the testimony of the survivors and documents of the perpetrators, you will find out what the relations between Czech and Jewish workers looked like and what strategies the Polish Jewish women used to survive.
The event will be simultaneously interpreted into Czech.

Dr. Janine P. Holc is a professor of political science at Loyola University in Maryland. She graduated from the doctoral studies at Johns Hopkins University. She has published research on democratic transformations, reproductive rights in Central Europe and the Holocaust memory policy in Poland. Her latest book is The Weavers of Trautenau: Jewish Female Forced Labor in the Holocaust (weavers of Trutnov: forced work of Jewish women during the Holocaust).
