As part of the monthly theme of the Dialogue Center "The weight of memory, the power of hope", we invite you to a lecture that will link architecture to the stories of those who lived in it. Villa Wittal, a functionalist gem of architect Heinrich Blum, is not only a symbol of the elegance of 30 years, but also a silent witness to historical twists that influenced the fate of its inhabitants.
This architectural jewel, set in the Pisárecký slope, boasts rounded lines, nautical elements and a thoughtful living space. His true story, however, is the Wittal family - successful textile entrepreneurs who were forced to leave their home in 1939. The fate of Johann Wittal and his loved ones reflects the broader historical context of the Jewish community, uprooting and losses, but also of hope and searching for new beginnings.
