About event
We invite you to the third lecture from the lecture cycle of the Department of Czech Literature! 🤩
In the lecture cycle "Current perspectives of Czech literature" focused on "solitaires" will perform exceptional personalities of contemporary thinking about Czech literature 20 and 21st century:
🔹 3. 4. Classroom R208 - Jáchym Topol: Ivan Martin Jirous
🔹 15. 5. V 16.15 - Classroom R208 - Martin Foret: Kaja Saudek
Who is actually solitaire? 🤔
The solitaire is the one who is visible from a distance. Which may not always be an advantage. It also means that it exceeds or establishes its surroundings. The solitaire also works as a signpost, ie determines the direction. Sometimes to another intersection, which we may not yet know about, sometimes in a dead end. The solitaires we want to talk about are those without which the interpretation of the development of Czech literature would not be possible - and yet they represent an unexpected way. They are often at the same time at the same time, because it is no longer possible to continue with all artistic responsibility without not becoming their successors or just parasitizing with all artistic responsibility. So the solitaires are those who lead (often in the rearview mirror of history), but at the same time those who establish the need for new ways. Literary history sometimes does not know with them, so it creates islands for them. We want to get them from these islands again to the sea, in which they could only be recognizable by their importance.
