🗺️ Caravan
r. Zuzana Kirchnerová, Slovakia/Czech/Italy, 2025, 103 min.
Sun, sea and the feeling that you don't have to do anything. For a forty -five -year -old Esther who has been tirelessly taking care of his son David with mental disabilities for years, it sounds like a dream. Therefore, he accepts the invitation of friends and follows them to Italy. In a foreign environment, however, David is unpredictable, emotional and causes problems. Esther does not want to be a burden on anyone, so he starts an old, weaned caravan and sets out only with her son on a journey across Italy. Without a plan, without duties, only the two of them. The spontaneous Zuza suddenly enters their lives, before which they can be themselves. Thanks to her, Esther realizes that her son is no longer a child, and finally finds the courage to wish for something for her life. The film Caravan is a poetic road movie about freedom, various forms of love and an urgent desire to finally start living - and not only to live. She graduated from the Faculty of Law of Karlova University in Prague and Department of Directors at FAMU. Her graduation film Baba (2008) won the first prize in the Cinéfondation section at the Cannes Festival. In recent years, it has been focused mainly on the document. For Czech Television she shot two documentary series: Čtyři in Ten (2013) and Foet Statečné (2018). Her long -length directorial debut Caravan had a world premiere at the Cannes 2025 IFF in the UN Certain Regard section
